Actually, that sounds like a good idea to me.

If anyone would be willing and able to translate Adblock into a foreign language, feel free to leave a note here with the language(s) you speak and an email address.

If you can't translate, but you know someone who could, refer them to this page and hopefully they might volunteer.

The work involved ought to be fairly minimal, time-wise, so don't let that stop anyone from volunteering! Wink

I don't know exactly when volunteers will be "called upon" to actually do the translating, since that'll require the interface to be essentially "frozen."

I can translate AdBlock in italian (I'm already doing translation on other extensions).

I tried to open the xpi and to start translating but I saw there's still no locale support (at least in Adblock_0.5.2+_nightly39.xpi), so I've reached this forum.

I hope that one of the developers will post in this thread; since no replies arrived, I tried a search and so I found this old topic and I'm quite disappointed.

I am still of that opinion.

However, since development / testing is in-house now, all future releases will be stable + eligible for localization. And since one member of the team is motivated to this end, you can be sure it will happen.

Sagi: just post your email address in this thread, and when we finalize the text-content of Adblock, we'll email you a bunch of text files for you to translate into Hebrew and then send back.

Sagi: Actually, the next version (0.6) is going to have different text to translate, and all of the "strings" will be found in one set of DTD and property files, rather than spread out over the XUL files.

You're free to distribute your translated version of n39; 0.6 should hopefully have one XPI that'll work with whatever languages/localized builds that have been translated for us.

It would be fine to put all the translations in a single file, then the browser would choose itself the good translation.
I say that because it's easier for the extension updates (now, the browser asks me to update to the same version number but...in english)

The portuguese chars as á é i ó ú ç õ ã ê â appear as question mark "?" so I had to write non punctued letters, what is a bit bad, but still translation.
A friend here told me to edit in Programmers Notepad, but it didn't work too.
I don't know where is the problem.
I tried adding \u00EA or ê too.
Is it possible to write chars as á é i ó ú ç õ ã ê â in adblock translation ?

I would like to publish my Brazilian Portuguese xpi but what makes a link to it install Adblock instead of showing the xpi content as text in the browser ??? Would be the ftp:// protocol or the secure environment of mozilla ?

I have sent an e-mail to Mr Bene from Adblock Plus for him to include the pt-BR locale, and Sergio Abreu & Alessandro Nakamuta as Brazilian contributors, but I didn't get a line...

And the website shows he didn't added the pt-BR locale.

I am wonderin "why" was the reason ?

Indications are that we will be seeing an alpha build posted in these forums before the year is out. When that is out you will be able to start localizing.
