I use Firefox, and use XP as the operating system. I want to know how i can stop those annoying ads that pop up in a different window other than the Firefox window. it is hard to say what i mean.

Like usually, when you click on a link, a new tab pops up in firefox. but these ads randomly create a new (and annoying) window for themselves. I blocked images from casalmedia (or whatever it is called), so the new window is pure white, blank, because i blocked that image. But i want to know how i can stop these blank new windows from poping up.

A silly question, but are you using Ff 1.0.x or 1.5.x?

In the address bar, type about:config.

Filter for popup. What is the value of privacy.popups.disable_from_plugins?

Well...

1) There were 8 files of spyware found on my computer (I use the free spybot search and destroy)

2) Just incase, i also ran an adware check (using ad-aware 6) and i deleted those files (14 files found)

3) I don't know what version I am running of Firefox, but it did update recently, well, not really recently, but it did have an update.

4) and for the about:config, the value of privacy.popups.disable_from_plugins is 2, type: integer.

Can you tell me what to change #4 to?

From 3), I guess you have Ff1.5.x. You can check by doing Help, About Mozilla Firefox. 4) is good and default in 1.5.x. I was just checking as the popup blocking was improved a lot in 1.5.x. You will now have to give specific examples to reproduce your popups.
