I frequently run into a problem where Adblock prevents display even though there are no filters. By disabling Adblock the page works. A good example is the National Weather Service 1 hour radar animation at
http://radar.weather.gov/radar.php?rid=lot&product=N1P&overlay=11101111&loop=yes

Any help?

This seems related so I'll append it here rather than start YANTopic.

Pls pardon probably uninformed 1st post, but at the locked topic "Unable to unblock images? Read this first!"
http://aasted.org/adblock/viewtopic.php?t=1302
It sez "If you used Block Images from... you used Firefox's internal image blocker, not Adblock. This feature is handled from Tools > Options > Web Features (or in Firefox 1.5 it's at Tools > Options > Content). Click the Exceptions button next to the Load Images check box."

FF 1.5.0.1 on MacOSX 10.4.5 shows no Options submenu under Tools. Any clarification available?

(and OBTW the first image-blocking I've tried is with AdBlock)

=====

Reason I encountered this problem and that I'm asking, is that I'm trying to understand and control AdBlock. My "guinea-pig" site is
http://www.crooksandliars.com
which normally has a big ad strip on the top. I was able to block it successfully with AdBlock last evening, and many more ads therein as well. My trouble started when I de-installed AdBlock (via Tools > Extensions > AdBlock > Uninstall and restarting FF, and all but the topmost advertisement returned.

As I say, I had blocked that graphic (and others) with AdBlock and I don't seem to be able to "resurrect" it even after deinstall. I get no hits on adblock when I search my HD so as far I can determine, it's gonzo. But when I reinstall adblock, my list of blocked sites is empty, but the graphic in question is still not showing up!

In order to regain a completely "virgin" FF, must I really do a clean reinstall of FF as spec'd in
http://aasted.org/adblock/viewtopic.php?t=719
?? Seems like a major kludge. I must be misunderstanding something. Hints welcome, TIA.

... and at
http://aasted.org/adblock/viewtopic.php?p=15173#15173
you say that some other page with a persistently gone image has a Java applet which is what is causing the persistent blocking. And that the fix is to update Java. Again, a kludge; and as far as Apple's "SW update" is concerned, I'm as up-to-date as I can be. So again I'm confused.

I'll be happy to provide any further info that's needed to make these questions intelligible Smile

A. Thanks for pointing that out, it's now fixed.
(This menu item is only visible in Windows. In Linux/Mac OS X, Edit > Preferences... is used instead.)

B. That is the right way to uninstall -- I'm not sure why it didn't work for you.

C. It's the best way I know of to get a virgin install, and solves non Ablock-related problems, too.

D. There is a known bug in certain versions of Java, that Ablock reveals. Having the latest version of Java rules out that bug as the culprit.
