|

Nightly 40 has gone live, and here's what's New:ClickImport
Importing is now easy as 'click'. Just Right-click inside any file ending in .txt (eg. filterset.G) or select filters directly on a webpage. If the text begins with "[Adblock]", an Import entry will appear in the context-menu.
Whitelisting
Whitelisting tells Adblock not to block certain stuff. There's 3 possible ways: i.) whitelisting a page..
ii.) ..a whole site,
iii.) or creating a custom white-filter. The first two are UI-driven -- via Tools > Adblock, or clicking 'Adblock' at the window-bottom. The last is entered just like any filter, but with two @-signs typed in front -- like so: '@@gmail.com'. Custom whitelist-filters don't affect entire pages; only individual elements in them.
.
So. Whitelisting from menus is great, but what about the size of the list? We thought of that, too. Anything you whitelist by menu is automatically reset after six months. If you continue to visit, the whitelist stays. No hassles, all automatic.
[ update.ii: AMO is now in sync ] |

The click import does not seem to show itself to me in Seamonkey 1/11/2006.
Anyone else? |

What platform or other extensions are you running?
.
It worked for me, using the same nightly under osX. Just to be sure, try a new profile + Adblock. If you follow the link to filterset.G, right-click anywhere in the page, and you should see "Adblock : Import Filters" in the context.
.
On the subject of Seamonkey: rendering this forum is slower with Seamonkey+Adblock. I'll look into it. |

Does the new nightly 40 build mean that Filterset.G will supply whitelists or will these still required the Filterset+Whitelists special extension?
Thanks for all your work. |

On the user-side: it's so easy to whitelist in Nightly 40, that Filterset.G shouldn't be an issue. On G's side: he can easily include whitelisting by default, now.

All:
An update to Nightly 40, lends ClickImport with no selection necessary. Now: Just find your text, Right-click > Done. |

|

1) This build has made forcast fox go nuts.
Installed build 41 today and forcast fox is throwing images of the sun and clouds at the top of the browser, just floating at first start up of FF 7.5, until it loads a page.
2) Also, please include prefs. to turn off / on items on right click menu! |

Hi rue. Great to see some tangible progress on the official Adblock once again! When will blocking of DIV elements be available? I've come to love this feature in Adblock+ |

NightOwl326:
Try the latest build, which disables the ajax-intercept + mends memory-management for Firefox: Update.

Zulithe:
No, I don't think div-blocking will cross over -- GreaseMonkey/RIP already provide it. Plus, we've got nicer things up our sleeves. Just not quite in the open, yet. |

rue: hmm yeah you're right, Greesemonkey can handle that portion, and if you have bigger things planned then I can live without DIV blocking |

Aren't those two at signs [wikipedia.org], not ampersands [wikipedia.org]? =P
But otherwise, hot extension. Thanks a bunch for this dude. |

Seamonkey 1.0b, Win 98SE, TBE, ieview, Mnenhy Chrome Manager, imagezoom, dictionarysearch, flashblock
Nightly 40 is the first Adblock (including Plus) I've tried that works on Seamonkey but when it's added, I experience frequent page faults. A typical one is:
SEAMONKEY caused an invalid page fault in
module MSVCRT.DLL at 0177:7800d710.
I know TBE is considered to be a renegade extension so I removed it and the page faults continue to occur.
In Mozilla Suite 1.7.12, Adblock works with all the other extensions with no stability problems. Any suggestions? |

If i wanna delete many items from filter list, i can't use CTRL or Shift button, are you going to add support for those keys.
(I can use those buttons in Mcm's Adblock Plus.) |

wow. I had to do some serious digging to figure out what was changing in these updated versions, and I guess this thread is the only reference to the changes
I still wish the statusbar text could be optionally disabled so I didn't have to rummage through adblock.css every time there's an update, but hey, small inconvenience compared to the usefulness of the extension.
I'm very glad to see this extension seeing updates, since the tangent "plus" extension is just cluttering the thing up with more crap I don't need. Very much appreciated, and kudos on the addition of whitelisting. _________________ -Venoman |

Wouldn't it be easier to edit your userChrome.css once rather than the source code after each update:
http://aasted.org/adblock/viewtopic.php?t=667#3770
Personnally, I wouldn't disable the statuselement. I find it quite unobstructive and useful. |

I think greasemonkey, webstyles, RIP, platypus is easier than using usercrhome.css
as user doesn't have to look at source or mess with css if they dotn want too |
