I love adblock.
It is by far the best adblocker.
I still use opera more than firefox though.

Opera needs adblock.
Please, please, please, pretty please with sugar on top, on behalf of all the opera users, who will worship you for ever, make an adblock version for opera.
In gratitude I will name my firstborn Adblock!

Adblock is written in JavaScript and XUL. It will only work in browsers which are using the Gecko engine and allow extensions.

Here's an Opera version of Firefox on which you can run Adblock (yes I know it sounds like this sentence doesn't make sense, but it actually does).

(and for the record, Opera does not suck -- I've paid for every version since version 3, and it's a great browser, but I also use Mozilla, Firefox, Lynx for win32, and IE (but it's been well over 3 mo. since I used IE)

Can't you rewrite it for the opera engine?

Do you think they could just throw it together over lunch? You're asking them to do months of work (if it's even possible). If it's as easy as you seem to think, why don't you do it?

There is a solution for Opera:
Open in a text editor the file opera6.ini (in the PROFILE directory) and add the following line in the [Adv User Prefs] section :
URL Filter File=C:\Program Files\Opera75\filter.ini

create the file filter.ini. It will look like this :
; Lines beginning with semi-column are commentaries
; filter.ini
; This file is part of the Opera browser.

[prefs]
prioritize excludelist=1

[include]
*

[exclude]
http://ad.*
http://ads.*
http://adserv*
http://banner*
http://count*
http://*.doubleclick.net/*
http://*.hitbox.net/*
http://*.ivwbox.de/*
http://*.tradedoubler.*
http://*/ads/*
http://*/Ads/*
http://*/banners/*
http://red*

Just use Ad Muncher.

Works flawlessly for opera and firefox and IE and lets you right click on ads in all 3 of them.

I loved adblock but after I found that I had to drop adblock. Smile

Hi.
Toggling of images is easy in Opera, but obviously not ideal when you want to see some images too, and not the ads.

Another option
You can also press F12 on your keyboard to access Quick Preferences, or simply go to:
Tools > Quick Preferences
Same thing, really.

Anyway, here you can uncheck Enable plug-ins (stops Flash-based ads and other plug-ins dead in their tracks - absolutely doesn't download or display them whatsoever). You can also disable javascript, etc.

To enable again:
Simply press F12 and make your choices, or go:
Tools > Quick Preferences
again.

CU.
