Ok I searched through the forums for Thunderbird, and noticed that there was an issue using Ad-Block with TB. Now in .8 with RSS support, is there a chance that Ad-Block could/will/might work with TB for the feeds?

I have just downloaded the new version and am slowly getting used to this RSS thing. I can get all my CNet news now, but the ads are horrible... just curious.

And incidentally, this is by far one of the best extensions for Firefox hands down. Great work!

As far as I know, TB is still missing support for Adblock functions.

I'd like to have that feature as well. I get a lot of Newletters containing heaps of Ads. Not having to see them in Thunderbird would be great.
I know I could turn off downloading any image, but that's not what I want.

in Thunderbird 0.8 (released this week) you can restrict loading of remote images to people in your Personal Addressbook or Collected Addresses.

Try setting it to only your Personal Addressbook and make sure the lists are not in that addressbook.

no,
the problem is that if i download a RSS page, i expect to get the style, text, and everything from the remote server, what we need is to stop some pictures, not all. like drop away the ADs Banners but keep, for example, the background image.

I agree with Alex. It would be great to get adblock into thunderbird. RSS feeds are nice but without adblock it just isn't pretty looking.

This is still the official word:

The short answer is that we'd like to, but can't.

Right now, Thunderbird, unlike Firefox and Mozilla, does not ask Adblock whether or not it should load each image it comes across.

(You might've noticed that when you right-click an image in Firefox/Mozilla, one of the menu items says "Block images from servername", while this menu item isn't present in Thunderbird. Adblock hooks into the same part of the backend as does that menuitem, so if/when you see that menuitem present in Thunderbird, it's likely that Adblock will be able to work on Thunderbird.)

The relevant bug in bugzilla is 245361. Until that bug is fixed, Adblock will not be able to work on Thunderbird.

Does this restriction also apply to mozilla mail-news, because adblock doesn't seem to work there either

It seems that mscott isn't to interested in blocking images in RSS feeds:
