firefox performs illegal operation

If I enable adblock and open a site with applets in it like any of the yahoo games pages, it says "Firefox has performed an illegal operation and will be closed" and shuts down. I have to disable adblock, restart it to be able to see those pages.

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and how I could rectify this?
I am using Windows 98 and Firefox 8.0
