The main Adblock install page still offers V0.3 for download. Is there any reason not to offer 0.5 instead? Isn't 0.5 far superior in any respect? Places like texturizer.net will probably always offer the latest release version. Isn't it a shame if new users will evaluate the usefulness of Adblock using the old 0.3? Would it be a bad idea if the current 0.5 would be released as soon as possible?

Calling anything less than 1.0 a "release" isn't right.
.
The older versions are clearly demarked as non-blocking, and since the current branch is undergoing almost daily revision, registering as "development" is fitting. No?

You are absolutely right, of course.

I was only thinking about a cosmetic trick: adding one of the most recent dev builds to the page http://adblock.mozdev.org/installation.html and thus encouraging places like texturizer.net extension page offer it to the masses instead of 0.3. After all, on the installation page 0.3 and 0.2.1 look a lot like an official "releases", even if they are also so much sub-1.0. Is there any such difference between 0.3 and 0.5-dev that this would be a bad idea?

There are diffs, but all of them are in favor of 0.5 really. I dloaded 0.3 first too, thinking it's "official" and 0.5 is probably buggy and bad and all that. That doesn't seem to be the case and I'm a believer in the release-often philosophy Smile.

This might work:
.
Rename the current "Install" page -> "Archives"
Rename the current < dontshow >..< /dontshow > "Dev" page -> "Install"
.
People need to read the latest dev-notes before installing.
Done.
.
The older builds have been removed from the install-page.
