I get a popup window--sometimes it seems to disappear in about 1/2 second, sometimes it persists (e.g. Dell ad, IIRC).
I'm using Adblock Plus v.5 d3 nightly 42 on Firefox 1.0.7 on XP.

firefox 1.5 (and higher) has much better built-in popup blocking abilities than the 1.0.x line _________________ • Latest Adblock!

@Zachariah: I think you are wrong on this - the major change came with Gecko 1.7.5 which is Firefox 1.0. The changes on the popup blocker since then have been minor. Yet 1.0.x isn't supported any longer so an upgrade is really recommendable...
@cphoenix: This isn't a new browser window, so it isn't a popup, just a regular ad on the page. You can add this filter to get rid of it:

now that you mention it, that does sound right ... my mistake
also I'm glad you noticed that it was not a true popup ... that term mislead me _________________ • Latest Adblock!

The "vault" thing isn't a popup. But there was another popup that appeared to be a separate window. Sorry if I got it wrong--I do know the difference, but the ads do their best to confuse... |

I wasn't criticizing what you wrote ... I was admitting that I didn't do enough research before answering. _________________ • Latest Adblock!

Ok, maybe there was a popup - but I don't have one now (not even blocked by Firefox). However, since Adblock isn't a popup blocker any popups not blocked are Firefox issues. Adblock is only sometimes fortunate enough to block the scripts that open popups. _________________ Adblock Plus developer

OK, thanks for the clarification. I hadn't realized which program does what.
And, Wladimir--thanks for being a developer of Adblock Plus! It's really great to have the Adblock programs--they make the net *so* much more surfable! If wuffies existed, you'd be rich. |
