Is this feature desired (a) to satisfy curisoity, or (b) for some other purpose?
Both.. just for curiosity purposes, but also helping you optimize a filterlist.

It does indeed work for me.

I was getting the false positive from downloads.sourceforge.net, the download button wouldn't show up, the lookahead does the job.

I had the same problem once, this is the filter I use, it works:

When you modify the actual extension it would most likely "void the warranty" so to speak. Try to do a clean reinstall and upgrade firefox. The latest versions work together fine.

Aside from a few basic examples I don't think adblock should come with any filters already added because people should be able to see and block what THEY want.

A filter counter that counts the times something is blocked because of a filter would be useful, but not the traffic meter.
